2020 will probably be the year that most of us in the events and entertainment industries will want to forget. Literally, overnight businesses closed doors or were forced to reduce staff and operating hours.
This was especially evident in the VR industry; we all but closed doors for 12 months, with only small numbers of diehard clients hiring VR headsets for small events such as in-house training and education. Move forward 12 months, and we are beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel with enquires and bookings increasing.
Right at the start of the pandemic way back in April 2020, we immediately introduced safe work practices that would limit as much as humanly possible, the spread and cross-contamination of germs from one person to another when sharing VR headsets. These practices have been in use and will continue to be used moving forward into 2021 and beyond.
Sanitisation of VR Headsets and Equipment -
As a standard operating procedure, we perform the following cleaning processes on every VR headset or shared piece of equipment.
1. After every event, our equipment is sanitised using 70% > alcohol wipes and sprays.
2. All VR headset face cushions and head straps are removed and washed with antibacterial and antifungal detergents in hot water.
3. During an event, all patrons must clean their hands using 70%> alcohol wipes, sprays, and gels that we provide.
4. When a patron finishes using the VR headset, our staff will clean down the headset, and hand controllers using 70%> alcohol wipes and spray.
5. If a patron shows signs of having a cold or flu, they will not be allowed to wear a VR headset.
6. We limit the number of patrons in our VR space according to State and Federal government requirements.
Staff Training - Our staff must undergo our OH&S training, including our COVID-19 operating procedures, before every event.
We are genuinely focused on ensuring we operate in a manner
that gives our clients and event patrons confidence we are doing all we
can to minimise the spread of COVID-19 and provide them with safe and sanitised
equipment.
Our staff are continuously trained and retrained before each
event to confirm our strict safety procedures are followed, and also to provide
our staff with the trust they are working for a company that values their
health and safety first.
